LAKE STEWARDSHIP & PROTECTION

The goal of a lake steward is to instill in shoreland property owners a passion for managing their shoreland and recreating on the lake in a manner essential for preserving the Big Arbor Vitae Lake System water quality, the abundant aquatic plants, and maintaining critical habitats for bees, butterflies, birds, fish, and wildlife on the lake or within our shorelands.

Central to protecting the water quality is avoiding unnecessary runoff of chemicals, fertilizers, yard waste, and storm runoff, which will enter the lake. These practices protect critical fish and wildlife habitats and affect the water where we swim, boat, and play.
